I Quit Devotion Day Eleven

Romans 8:26

“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.”

Have you ever looked at your life and wondered how you got where you are?

Maybe it’s the job that you have, or where you live. Are you exactly where you thought you’d be?

Music has always been a huge part of my life. In college, I planned on being a record producer who would eventually produce my own album. I worked in a studio my last semester of college, developed a love for arranging music, and dreamed of winning a Grammy Award.

But as I neared the end of my college career, I become very uncomfortable with the direction my life was heading in. I had a growing desire to go into full time ministry and had no idea where that desire came from. Up to that point, I had always told God I would do  anything except music ministry.

People around me were really surprised since I’d never even hinted that I wanted to do that. And they weren’t the only ones who were surprised…I was coming up with every reason you can think of to explain to God why I was inadequate for that job! Now, I’m so thankful I listened.

Have you ever tried to reason with God about why you can’t do something? (First of all…it doesn’t work.) I quickly learned, “God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.”

I’d like to challenge you today to give your plans up to God.

You may feel inadequate to do what he calls you to do, but remember that the Holy Spirit will help you and guide you even at your weakest. Trust me, you’re going to want to be apart of whatever He’s got planned!
