I Quit Devotion Day Fifty Two

2 Corinthians 9:13

"As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ."

“Obedient” is a word that could sum up my entire childhood and beginning of adulthood.  Whether it was focusing on my grades in school, which classes I took in college, or the job I took after college.  I was the epitome of an obedient person when it came to listening to what other people told me to do.  These obedient decisions led me to a great job right out of college working for one of the top designers in the world.  I quickly moved up the ladder and was well on my way to a top position within my industry. But, there was something missing.  I was never fully satisfied no matter how much money I made or how much praise I received.

I began attending the Journey about 4 years ago and started getting involved almost immediately.  I started singing on the Worship Arts team and from there the opportunities just kept coming and I looked forward to each one I was given.  What I found was the more time I spent serving others the more fulfilled I felt in my life and the more I heard God speaking to me.

What I realized over the years of serving and focusing on my relationship with God was that He was the one person I wasn’t being obedient to.  He had been telling me the whole time where I belonged, but I spent so much time focusing on what others told me rather than being obedient to Him.  We can get so caught up in what the world tells us is right instead of looking to God to lead our path.

I recently left my corporate job to pursue the path that God wanted me to go down the whole time and He has already blessed it in more ways than I could have ever imagined.

While I know I will fail at times, I know that God remains the same and always keeps His promises. He is quick to forgive and faithful to provide. My challenge to you is to follow God, obey Him and watch what He does in your life. You’ll be amazed!
